Climate Change
There is a veritable stew of opinions on the causes of global climate change. However what is certain is that it is happening.
We are certainly not qualified to weigh in on the causes of this phenomenon. Simply raising the question of the effects of this process on the West coast is our intention. Given the great great complexity of global weather patterns, it is likely impossible to predict what type of long term changes will occur and where.
Certain trends are predictable, such as global warming increasing volatility. Yet the spectre of increasing climactic volatility certainly implies that we simply don't know what is going to happen.
In previous post we have commented on the interconnectedness of all things. This must include both human consciousness and natural phenomenon such as climate. Indeed it seems to be the case that the traditional cultures and belief systems of the world are fragmenting in the face of the Western inspired individualism. These traditional beliefs are like glue, they provide a framework and the cohesion for consciousness to dwell within. They have served as a regulating force for many centuries.
Since the so-called Enlightenment Era and the rise of individualism we have seen a steady erosion of Western culture and a concomitant rise in entropy, loosely defined. Particularly since the Industrial revolution, when we began to harness large amounts of energy, entropy has increased exponentially. This follows the same curve as energy utilisation.
This is our symbolic answer to the question of climate change, that it is to be found in the state of our consciousness. From an integral perspective entropy represents the opposing force of order. The ordering principle is what forms our consciousness and our cultures. These are fragmenting.
Climate is destabilising, world cultures are dissolving, and chaos is creeping.
